I came across this quote by Jim Cymbala:“Prayer is the opening of the heart so we can receive all these good things that God has for us every day. It’s like sitting down at a table that God has prepared for us. He says, ‘I have everything you need today – all the grace, all the wisdom, all the provision that you need – but sit down at the table and eat. Don’t be so rushed and so busy and try to live without My supply.” I really appreciate his heart for prayer…and I learned a couple of valuable things this week. When sitting over lunch with a friend I was reminded to keep things simple…and to read Ronnie Floyd’s book ‘The Power of Prayer and Fasting.’ Prayer has been, but has become even more so, such an important part of my daily life. I had forgotten the beauty of praying with and not just for others. My wife and I pray together often…but we haven’t had a venue for corporate prayer in Vancouver. So…We’re changing things up a bit on Wednesday evenings and turning our study into an open prayer time.
